Flash done differently

Late last year I spent an evening taking pictures of trees and flowers using my flash for light. The result was fun and really quite beautiful.

It had just rained and the flash brought out a different kind of emphasis. Because I used the camera’s flash function instead of a separate light source, I couldn’t get too close to my object. I needed to be far enough away for the flash to illuminate what I was capturing.

What I did get was quite beautiful. A new perspective I enjoyed very much, and details I might have otherwise missed.

Even this decaying Gerber daisy took on a new kind of beauty. Just playing with the camera like this is a lot of fun.
