A mishap

A hawk was sitting on a fence when it saw the dogs and me coming around the bend. Startled, it took off in the wrong direction and flew into a window just a few yards behind the fence. The impact wasn’t terrible, but enough to send the hawk tumbling to the ground, where it collected itself enough to fly back to the fence.

The dogs and I stood completely still and allowed the hawk to put its feathers back together and literally shake off the shock. This took 30 seconds or so, not long. The dogs watched attentively but made no move to go closer.

Eventually, the hawk flew off, and we continued our walk. When we got home half an hour later, here it was, flying overhead, back to its normal self.

Much better!
