A visit to the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge outside of Houston was a wonderful idea today. The weather was cloudy, the morning brought fog. First it was very quiet; most birds were still and sleepy. We left the first area and moved closer to the gulf, and suddenly we saw thousands of snow geese congregating on recently burned fields that were filled with juicy new shoots.
After we spent a few hours admiring the snow geese and the gulf coast, we went back to the first lake, and now things had woken up. The song birds were singing, lots of alligators were out, and the place was teeming with life. We took a lot of photos, many of which came out great.
